Dark, almost black, in color.

Flavor

A rich, smoky flavor with slight raisin and berry overtones and a touch of chocolate. Mild to medium heat.

Possible Applications

A traditional component in mole sauce and excellent in red enchilada sauce, meat stews and seafood.
